Seamless Microcement Finishes for Contemporary Fashion Retail
Located in London’s Soho district, the Carhartt WIP store on Brewer Street incorporates Ideal Work Microtopping® to deliver a refined material backdrop within a contemporary retail setting. Installed by Designs In Resin, the project combines seamless decorative concrete flooring with textured microcement wall finishes, creating an interior defined by restraint, durability, and clean architectural detailing.
Developed around a pared-back industrial aesthetic, the scheme uses continuous surface finishes to establish cohesion across the retail environment while allowing the product displays, materials, and lighting to take visual precedence. The result is a space that feels minimal yet tactile, balancing raw utilitarian influences with a polished retail presentation.
Microtopping® was applied across the main floor areas in Charcoal, producing a seamless decorative concrete finish with subtle tonal movement and a soft mineral appearance. The light microcement flooring enhances the sense of openness throughout the store while contrasting against darker fixtures, suspended lighting elements, and exposed structural detailing.
In selected merchandising areas, textured Microtopping® wall finishes introduce depth and material variation without interrupting the restrained palette of the interior. Combined with layered plywood shelving, black stone surfaces, and exposed white brickwork, the decorative concrete applications reinforce the understated industrial identity associated with the Carhartt WIP brand.
The interior layout was designed to maintain clear sightlines across the retail floor, using long display runs, open circulation routes, and minimal visual clutter to create a gallery-like shopping experience. Carefully integrated lighting and continuous surface treatments contribute to the sharp, contemporary character of the space.
The completed scheme highlights the use of Ideal Work Microtopping® within premium retail environments, where seamless decorative concrete finishes contribute both functional performance and a strong architectural identity. Through the combination of charcoal-toned microcement surfaces, restrained material selections, and industrial detailing, the Brewer Street store delivers a refined retail setting tailored to the visual language of contemporary fashion brands.
