Contemporary Mexican Restaurant Interior with Seamless Microcement Decorative Finishes

Ideal Work collaborated on the striking interior and exterior finishes at Cavita, a contemporary Mexican restaurant in the heart of London, developing a mood board with bespoke colours and textures. Combining multiple specialist surface systems including Microtopping®, Rasico® and Acid Stain, the project showcases how decorative concrete finishes can transform commercial hospitality spaces into immersive design-led environments.

Across the walls, floors, and exterior surfaces, a range of colours, textures, and application techniques were used to create depth, warmth, and visual impact throughout the restaurant. The seamless Microtopping® surfaces deliver a refined, contemporary finish with the durability required for busy restaurant environments, while Acid Stain treatments introduce rich tonal variation and natural movement across selected areas.

This London restaurant project highlights the growing demand for seamless decorative surfaces within the hospitality sector, where durability, individuality, and premium design aesthetics are equally important.

From Milan to Dubai

Few brands celebrate Italian food culture quite like Eataly. Founded in Turin in 2007, the concept has grown into a global destination, combining restaurants, cafés, fresh produce, artisan ingredients and specialist retail under one roof. Whether in Europe, North America, the Middle East or Asia, every location shares the same philosophy: authentic Italian craftsmanship, quality ingredients and spaces designed to encourage people to gather, eat and discover.

At Eataly Dubai, that philosophy extends beneath your feet. The seamless floor, created using Nuvolato Architop® and enriched with an Amber Acid Stain, delivers the warmth and character of aged Italian concrete while offering the durability required for a busy retail and hospitality environment. Its rich, burnished tones complement the timber shelving, wine displays and open kitchens, creating a natural backdrop that allows the colours, aromas and textures of Italian produce to take centre stage.

As visitors move effortlessly between the marketplace, cafés and restaurants, the uninterrupted surface reinforces the sense of one connected experience. Beautiful yet exceptionally hardwearing, the floor reflects Eataly’s belief that outstanding design should feel effortless—supporting everyday life while quietly celebrating the timeless craftsmanship for which Italy is renowned.

Art Beneath Your Feet

Stepping into Ginger & Green’s Epsom showroom is like entering a designer’s sketchbook brought to life. Rich textures, vibrant colours and carefully curated furnishings create an immersive space where every detail has been considered—and the floor is no exception.

Rather than selecting a conventional finish, the Ginger & Green design team created their own bespoke decorative floor using Ideal Work’s Nuvolato Architop® as the canvas. Acid stains in Brown, Turquoise and Fern Green were carefully layered across the polished concrete surface, producing an organic blend of colour that echoes the fabrics, wallpapers and furnishings throughout the showroom. No two areas are identical, giving the floor the character of a hand-painted artwork.

The seamless surface guides visitors naturally through the space while providing the durability required for a busy commercial showroom. Finished with a high-gloss solvent-based sealer, the floor enhances the depth of the acid stains, creating reflections and movement that change throughout the day as the light shifts.

This project perfectly demonstrates how decorative concrete can become a defining design feature rather than simply a functional surface—proving that creativity doesn’t stop at eye level.
