A Surface Worth Its Salt.
Solidro, designed for hospitality at The Salt Room, Brighton
Sitting on Brighton’s seafront, The Salt Room has long been known for its seafood, sweeping coastal views and distinctive interiors. Following its recent refurbishment, the restaurant has entered a new chapter, with Karen Taylor of Pattern-Haus Interior Design creating a refreshed scheme that feels warm, characterful and entirely at home beside the sea.
At the heart of the new interior is the bar, and at the heart of the bar is Ideal Work Solidro.
Ideal Work Solidro in Cannella was specified across the main bar tops, serving counters and till desk, creating beautiful hand-applied surfaces designed to meet the everyday demands of a busy hospitality environment. It’s also a great example of why Solidro is such a compelling surface choice for restaurants, hotels and commercial hospitality spaces.

Solidro, designed for hospitality.
Beautiful restaurant interiors have to do more than look good.
Bars and serving areas are some of the hardest-working surfaces in any hospitality environment. Drinks are poured, glasses are moved, spills happen, and surfaces are cleaned repeatedly throughout every service.
That makes material specification particularly important.
Solidro combines the aesthetics of a hand-applied decorative finish with the performance required for commercial spaces. Waterproof, stain-resistant and hard-wearing, it can be used across floors, walls and furniture to create practical yet beautifully considered surfaces.
Its minimal thickness and seamless application also give architects and designers greater freedom to work across bespoke counters, edges and architectural forms.

Cannella: warmth, texture and character.
For The Salt Room, Solidro in Cannella was chosen to complement the restaurant’s rich material palette.
Meaning cinnamon in Italian, Cannella introduces warm, earthy tones alongside natural timber, terracotta, patterned tiles and softly coloured finishes. Its subtle tonal movement gives the bar depth and individuality without competing with the surrounding materials.
Rather than feeling like a worktop simply added to the joinery, the seamless finish allows the surface to become part of the bar itself. It’s a beautiful example of commercial surface design where aesthetics, functionality and material character work together.

Made for beautiful commercial spaces.
The Salt Room demonstrates an important principle of successful hospitality design: the materials guests see are often the same materials that need to work the hardest. From the statement bar to serving counters and the till desk, Solidro delivers the durability required for everyday hospitality while maintaining the warmth and character of the overall interior.
A hardworking commercial surface that doesn’t have to look hardworking.
And this week, we’ll get to see it doing exactly what it was designed to do, providing the backdrop to a busy space filled with people, conversations and connections. We’re looking forward to meeting businesses from across the local area and spending some time in a fantastic Brighton hospitality project that showcases Solidro where it belongs:
Being used, enjoyed and very much part of the experience.
