Great Western Studios, Paddington, London
Great Western Studios is a vibrant canal-side workspace in Paddington, originally designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, and flexible working within a characterful industrial setting. The later expansion of the building introduced two additional floors, carefully integrated into the existing architecture while the studios remained occupied and operational throughout the construction process. Designed by Bryden Wood, the project sought to retain the distinctive identity of the building while enhancing the sense of openness, natural light, and connectivity between spaces.
The new floors continue the building’s contemporary industrial aesthetic, combining exposed structural elements with warm and durable finishes suited to a busy creative environment. Large windows and open-plan layouts maximise daylight and provide views across the surrounding area and canal, reinforcing the collaborative atmosphere that Great Western Studios has become known for.
As part of the extension works, Microtopping® was selected as the floor finish for the new upper levels, helping to create a seamless and modern surface throughout the workspace. Its continuous appearance and refined concrete aesthetic complemented the architectural language of the project while also providing the durability required for high-traffic commercial use. Microtopping® was also applied across the four staircases connecting the new floors, visually linking the spaces together and enhancing the flow between levels. The result is a cohesive and contemporary interior that respects the industrial character of the original building while introducing a clean and sophisticated finish appropriate for modern creative studios.

Contemporary Microcement Interiors with Seamless Decorative Concrete Finishes
Private House, Chichester is a luxury residential interior project showcasing the versatility and refined aesthetic of Ideal Work Microtopping® within a contemporary countryside home. Delivered by The Micro Cement Company, the project combines seamless microcement flooring, decorative concrete finishes, and textured bathroom surfaces to create a calm, cohesive, and highly architectural living environment.
Microtopping® was used throughout the property to achieve continuous seamless surfaces across floors and bathroom areas, enhancing the flow between spaces while introducing warmth, durability, and minimalist elegance. The project demonstrates how modern microcement finishes can be integrated into high-end residential interiors to create timeless contemporary spaces with both practicality and visual impact.
The main flooring areas were finished in Chocolate, providing rich earthy tones that complement the natural timber detailing, soft neutral furnishings, and layered interior textures throughout the home. The seamless microcement flooring creates a polished concrete aesthetic while maintaining a softer and more tactile residential feel, ideal for luxury contemporary interiors.
Within the bathroom spaces, Microtopping® in Maplewood was applied to walls and surfaces to establish a warm spa-like atmosphere with subtle mineral texture and natural tonal variation. Combined with black-framed shower glazing and minimalist architectural detailing, the bathrooms balance contemporary structure with organic warmth and handcrafted character.
Large-format glazing, natural light, and carefully curated furnishings further enhance the calm and understated luxury of the project. Decorative wall finishes, textured materials, and seamless transitions between surfaces contribute to the cohesive architectural language of the interior scheme.
The finished project highlights the flexibility of Ideal Work Microtopping® for luxury residential interiors, demonstrating how seamless microcement flooring, decorative concrete wall finishes, and bespoke textured surfaces can elevate contemporary homes with durability, warmth, and sophisticated modern design.

Completed in Fulham, London, this commercial interior project features the installation of Ideal Work Microtopping® within a contemporary office breakout and communal workspace environment. Designed to combine durability, flexibility, and refined decorative concrete aesthetics, the scheme delivers a seamless flooring solution suited to modern office space and workplace well-being. Installation of the project was carried out by Creation Flooring.
Working across open-plan seating areas, café spaces, collaborative work zones, and circulation routes, the project integrates continuous Microtopping® surfaces to create visual cohesion throughout the interior. The result is a clean and contemporary commercial environment defined by soft tonal variation, minimalist detailing, and a balanced colour palette. Finished in Argilla and Maplewood, the flooring introduces subtle warmth and natural mineral texture while maintaining the understated aesthetic of the wider interior design scheme.
The neutral microcement flooring contrasts against darker architectural elements, textured upholstery, integrated planting, and statement stone surfaces to create depth and variation throughout the space. A sculptural green stone coffee bar forms a central feature within the breakout area, introducing richness, pattern, and visual weight against the soft seamless floor finish.
Large-format glazing and open communal layouts enhance natural light across the interior, while continuous flooring surfaces reinforce the spacious and connected feel of the workspace. The combination of decorative concrete flooring, biophilic design elements, and hospitality-inspired furnishings creates a contemporary commercial environment that feels both functional and welcoming.
