Seamless Microcement Flooring for Contemporary Retail Interiors
Located in the heart of London’s Covent Garden, this Carhartt WIP retail space features bespoke Ideal Work Microtopping® finishes designed to complement the brand’s utilitarian aesthetic and carefully curated retail environment. Installed by Deco Plast, the project combines seamless microcement flooring with integrated stair detailing to create a clean, durable and highly tactile surface throughout the store interior.
The scheme uses a bespoke Smoke and Olive Grey colour blend, introducing subtle tonal variation across the floor plane while maintaining the restrained material palette associated with the Carhartt WIP identity. The continuous surface finish enhances the architectural simplicity of the space, allowing the clothing displays, timber furniture and industrial detailing to remain the visual focus.
Applied across both the main retail areas and stepped circulation zones, Microtopping® delivers a hard-wearing decorative concrete finish suitable for high footfall commercial environments. The absence of joints helps create visual continuity across different levels of the store, reinforcing the open-plan layout while contributing to a calm and cohesive customer experience.
Soft grey tones interact naturally with the lighting scheme and exposed retail fixtures, producing a balanced backdrop that feels understated yet refined. The lightly textured surface introduces depth and character without overpowering the wider interior composition, supporting the brand’s contemporary industrial aesthetic.
The project demonstrates how seamless microcement flooring can be successfully integrated within premium fashion retail environments, combining durability, low-maintenance performance and architectural simplicity within a modern commercial setting.
